Rick Bacus has been a working musician for many years in the Kansas City area writing and performing as a solo act as well as with some of KC’s most in demand musicians. One of his earliest bands in the 1960s featured a little-known singer named Sly James (yes mayor of KC Sly James). Rick’s band Morningstar was signed to Columbia records in the late 1970s, producing two albums. In 2012 Morningstar was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall Of Fame. 1980s and '90s: In addition to performing with some of the areas top bands, Rick co-owned and operated Bacus Audio and Music Inc., providing ﬁlm scores and postproduction work for countless fortune 500 companies and exhibits nation wide. Currently you can ﬁnd Rick performing the ﬁrst and third Wednesday of each month as a solo act at Jazz Louisiana Kitchen in midtown and as leader of his band “Journeyman” the fourth Saturday of each month at the Levee. Journeyman will also be featured later this year at Santa Cali Gon Days in Independence, Mo. and the Deja Vu Dream Concert at the Providence Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Ks.
