- Heather Thornton -
[Bio]

We offer a wide variety of music, a little something for everyone. All styles from jazz, blues, rock, pop, funk, R&B, to easy listening and even a little bit of country. I work with some of the best musicians in town and we can fit into just about any venue out there. This group has such a wonderful chemistry and every performance seems to have a little bit of magic. If you come see us live you will hear some of my original songs and an eclectic mixture of cover tunes certain to keep you wanting more.

The Heather Thornton Band Members

lead vocals - Heather Thornton

I was trained both as a classical and as a jazz singer, but I’ve got the blues in my blood. I have been singing as long as I can remember, however I started out in the Kansas City music scene just a little over three years ago with a band called CORNERSTONE. I was a member of that band for about a year and then I ventured out on my own to start The Heather Thornton Band, Duo and Trio. I am extremely fortunate that I found such amazing players to work with. Not only are they wickedly talented, they are also quality individuals who truly love making music. During the evening hours you can find me in various different venues like O’Dowds, 40 Sardines, The Jazz, Barleys Brewhaus and many others see the schedule . The daytime leads me to nursing, retirement, and assisted living homes to perform with The Rob Robinson Show. Music is definitely a lifestyle for me right now and I hope to keep it that way. I am a singer, a songwriter, a performer and thus I am forced to become a businesswoman as well. I look forward to the challenges and I hope you will stay tuned to see what comes next.

lead guitar - Tom DeMasters

I have been working with Tom for about three years now, almost since the beginning of my Kansas City music career. He is on my “Top 10 Favorite People List” and one of the most talented people I know. He has a beautiful way of creating melodies and interesting chord changes to enhance what might just sound ordinary with other guitar players. He is always tasteful, innovative and joyful in his approach to music and I am proud to call him a good friend as well. Be sure to check out his website www.kcguitar.com. He also sells insurance, so if you need any be sure to give him a call. He is the nicest insurance selling guitar player you will ever meet.

lead guitar - Brian Ruskin

Brian is a truly gifted, meticulous guitar virtuoso and I do a happy dance any time I get to work with him. He has a way of making a guitar line float across the music like it got caught on a breeze of genius. He comes from a very musical family. His mother is Julie Turner and his father is Tommy Ruskin, both of which are well known musicians in Kansas City. His guitar playing is mischievous, studious and a lovely blend of jazz, rock, blues, country, and whatever else you could imagine. Be sure to check out his website www.ruskinquartet.com

bass guitar - Jeramy Johnston

When I tell you this guy is a prodigy I am not kidding. He is only 20 years old, but has a knack for music in a way that most people will never experience. He plays upright and electric bass, guitar, piano, drums and he is even able to carry a tune. I thank my lucky stars that I ran into Jeramy. I am going to have him play guitar in my trio in rotation with Tom and Brian, and bass in the band in rotation with Rick Hueyett. Be sure to listen for his name because he definitely not your average player.

bass guitar - Rick Hueyett

Rick is as professional as they come. He never fails to play a solid, melodic bass line and his attitude is one of the best I have had the pleasure of working with. He is one of those players you can always rely on to deliver the goods. Rick also has his own video production company so be sure to check out his website www.wheatlandproductions.com.

drums - Eric Potter

I met Eric Potter about two and a half years ago and I have been working with him ever since. He is such a solid, tasteful drummer who is not afraid to show some personality. I never have to worry about him because he is always right there in the pocket and able to feel where the music is going. He is so easy to get along with and I am very fortunate to know him. Eric is also a magician capable of doing a large show with all the extras. Don’t forget to check out his website www.mysticworksentertainment.com.
